Most hotels do not allow a minor to check into a hotel unsupervised. They will have to call the hotel that you want to stay in, and ask if they will allow you to stay there. Then, they will have to pay in full in advance, since hotels normally don't charge a credit card until checkout, which is also why you can NOT sign your parents' credit card.
The best way to avoid any problem is to have an adult friend accompany you, who can pay on your behalf.

Usually there is some policy they would of given you on your confirmation or something that you can read that will state the specifics. My best bet would be to call the lady and explain your situation to her and ask if you can at least a partial sum of your money back.

If you booked through almost any travel website except the hotels website you are out of luck. Expedia, Priceline, orbit, etc. all of the travel websites are like a travel agent. You pay them, they pay the hotel. You could try to call them but I'm sure they will tell you no based on the fact it is non-refundable. When you book through any of these companies you will get a standard room type which means anything that is leftover. No preference on smoking or non or how many beds. Always try to stay away from these methods of booking rooms because you may get a better rate but you might not get what you expected.

When you check in online, print the page that confirms your checkin. Give the confirmation to the hotel desk clerk. You will need your credit card for incidentals. I have done it many times and it saves time when you arrive. Have fun!
I have done this before on vacation with my sister. We took turns paying for hotel room we stayed in. It was no trouble. Make sure you trust this friend because he could find other arrangements at the last minute.
